Post-Study Opportunities - France

1. Job-Seeking Visa

  • Temporary Residence Permit :

    • International students who have completed their studies in France can apply for an APS, allowing them to stay in France for 12 months (renewable once) to search for a job or create a business.
    • Eligibility: The APS is available for students who have completed at least a master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification in France.
    • Conditions: During this period, the student can work in any job to support themselves while looking for a position relevant to their field of study.

2. Opportunities for Permanent Residency

  • Employment:

    • After securing a job, graduates can apply for a change of status from a student visa to a work visa. The employer must usually sponsor the application and demonstrate that the job could not be filled by a French or EU candidate.
  • Skills and Talent Visa :

    • This visa is designed for individuals with exceptional skills who can contribute to the economy or culture of France. It can eventually lead to permanent residency.
  • Permanent Residency :

    • After residing in France for five continuous years, graduates may be eligible to apply for permanent residency. This status allows them to live and work in France without needing a visa or work permit.
  • Naturalization:

    • Graduates who have lived in France for five years or more, and meet certain integration criteria (such as language proficiency and understanding of French culture), may apply for French citizenship.
